It all began with Ghost Vigil Investigations...established in 2005. GVI investigates
paranormal phenomenon at historic locations and for clients that ask for our help in their homes or businesses.
Our services are always free and we are the TAPS Family representatives for the states of Kansas and Missouri.
In 2007 when two GVI members, Jamie King and Mark Stinson, first heard of the concept of a Zombie Walk they were
immediately sold on the idea. Jamie and Mark were committed to sponsoring a Zombie Walk in their own stomping grounds...the
Kansas City area. |

So who the hell are Jamie and Mark to sponsor a Zombie Walk? What qualifies them?
What makes them special?
Absolutely effing nothing. Jamie
and Mark are not event organizers, know essentially nothing about zombie make-up, and aren't particularly liked
by even their own friends and family. But, its hard to keep down a couple of people with an obsessive dream, internet
connections, and an absolute willingness to embarrass and humiliate themselves in the process. Jamie and Mark aren't
special, they just want to have some zombie fun. Doesn't this sound like the beginning of a success story to you? |
So what follows is what Jamie and Mark doing to organize two zombie walks in 2008.
Jamie is going to set a date for both zombie walks, one in the Spring and one on October 26th. Oh, wait...the 2nd
date is already set...WTF? Jamie is going to pick great locations, promote the hell out of both Zombie Walks, form
partnerships with interested groups that also enjoy zombies, manage the KCZombies MySpace, and generally run this
whole operation, top to bottom.
Mark is going to design and maintain this website and coordinate all the graphic artwork and promotional materials
for the zombie walk. That's it. |

No one makes money, promotes a product, or gets famous from these Zombie Walks. Jamie
and Mark have set some basic rules to make sure no one gets hurt or arrested. And this whole thing is set up for
you to simply show up, do your zombie-thing, and have a good time. And what do you have to do in return for all
of this?
Show up with a kick-ass zombie get-up, or a crappy one...but show up! Tell your friends. E-Mail your friends. Post
this on your MySpace. Get the word out. The more zombies that show up, the more fun that everyone is going to have.
Period. |

There have been Zombie Walk attempts in the past here in Kansas City, some more
successful than others. And there are people here in Kansas City that were also planning on putting together Zombie
Walks in the future. As we meet these other people, and get to know them...we're hoping to partner with them and
put together one, large, organized, collaborative Zombie Walk of which we can all be proud. And when that happens,
we'll introduce you to those brave partners right here on this this page. They will be just as much a part of the
Zombie Walk history as anyone...
This History page will also feature photos from prior Zombie Walks, once we get
one or two under our belt. This page will essentially be dedicated to the work that all of you put into your zombie
make-up and clothes, and all the people that come together to make the Kansas City Zombie Walks a huge success.
