YOUTH RULES
Always follow these rules, so that you can have fun and stay safe...
1. It is better to have an adult or family member with you. But if
that is not the case ALWAYS tell your family where you are going.
2. NEVER go alone. It is safer to have a friend or group of friends with you (in case you get hurt or run into
trouble), and it's also more fun with friend!
3. NEVER trespass. trespassing means going onto someone's property without asking permission first. This includes
climbing over fences or entering any building without being told by the owner that you are welcome there.
4. NEVER go into an abandoned building, even if it is supposed to be haunted. There may be people in there that
will bother you, or the building may be unstable. You can fall through the floor if it's weak. The roof may even
fall in on you!
5. ALWAYS look for normal causes for the ghostly happenings. Most activity that is thought to be paranormal is
caused by something that is natural and explainable. And its your job to figure it out!
6. If you bring snacks with you, never leave litter. Leave the investigation location exactly as you found it...
7. Make sure you have a cell phone or change for the pay phone, in case you need help.
8. Always take notes. Write down everything that happens....what you see, smell, hear etc.
9. If you have a camera, take as many photos as you can. You capture some evidence, and even if you don't...the
photos will remind you later of the fun you had and the good job you did.
Tell an adult, take a friend, never trespass, and be careful!

GHOSTS. SPIRITS. HAUNTINGS. PARANORMAL ACTIVITY.
We hear these words all the time. We see them portrayed in scary movies. We dress
up like them on Halloween. They are in our cartoons, on our cereal boxes, and in our amusement parks. We hear people
tell stories about them. We watch television shows that talk about them and that look for evidence that ghosts
exist.

But what are ghosts really? And where do they come from? What causes paranormal
activity? Why would a house or building be haunted? Nobody really knows the answers to these questions. But that's
what makes it so interesting and fun. Its one of life's greatest mysteries. Perhaps you'll play a role in helping
to solve it!
Some people think that paranormal investigators are basically "GHOSTBUSTERS."
This is not true. We don't "bust" ghosts or capture them in containment units. We don't have proton packs
or ghost-detectors, and we don't fight wth ghosts or get "slimed."

Paranormal investigators explore reported haunted locations (always with permission).
They take notes about what they see, hear, smell, and feel...and they take notes about their equipment readings.
They take photos and record audio and video evidence. And Paranormal Investigators always look for natural explanation
for what they experience...rather than jumping to conclusions and blaming everything on a ghost!
Some would say its a bad idea to encourage young people to become interested in
ghosts and the paranormal. But, young people are already interested in ghosts and the paranormal...they don't require any encouragement or pushing
from us! Our goal here is to provide grounded and credible resources and information to young people who are already
interested in the paranormal. If they are going to investigate and dabble in the paranormal anyway, we'd rather
they do it right...and in a way that prevents them from getting hurt or in trouble.
