MARK STINSON'S CONCLUSIONS

This investigation was different than anything we have ever done. We had to delve into and learn a whole new field of knowledge. We had to apply techniques and technology we use for attempting to detect hauntings, in a live dynamic situation involving live human beings and ritual magic. And we had to shed all the bias and misunderstandings about Paganism and Witchcraft we had developed over decades of living in a primarily Christian culture.

I was extremely proud of how our investigators performed and I'm very happy with the final results of our investigation.

I had two goals going into this investigation. First, I wanted to create an investigation report that would allow curious non-pagans a window into the beliefs, activities, worship, and magical workings of practicing Pagans. Secondly, I wanted to test the ability of our equipment to detect or measure the energies that the Pagan ritual is meant to gather and direct.

I believe we accomplished the first goal, and this investigation report far exceeds what I had hoped for when we began this process. Thanks to information from a wide variety of sources, and guidance from Lord Pegasus, Autumn Wolf, and others, the About Wicca, Pagan Terminology, and Meaning of Mabon sections of our investigation report are an excellent primer on Pagan beliefs and modern witchcraft. The photos, video, and analysis of the rituals themselves further the knowledge one can gain from this report.

I have never been convinced that our electromagnetic field detectors are capable of measuring paranormal or magical energies. I know that is the common belief among the ghost hunting community, but I'm just not convinced. This investigation did nothing to convince me one way or the other on the issue. Our TIF 7000 digital thermometer/pyrometer performed very well, once again, and gave us some readings that left us wondering.

While our trip to the Fairy Gate seems a bit odd at first, it did allow us a chance to highlight the common error of mistaking flash-lit flying insects in photographs as ghosts or fairies.

So, did we conclusively detect or measure paranormal energies at either ritual? My conclusion would have to be
no. Does that mean that paranormal energies were not present at either ritual? I believe we have no way of conclusively saying one way or the other...
